1. Preparation of metal plating
No sand blasting is required. Tests show that 40-grade
sanding gives similar result. No primer is used. |
 |
2. Application of the FHS Adhesive
The specially formulated visco-elastic non-moisture
absorbent two-pack polyurethane adhesive is the
key to the hull systems functionality. |
 |
3. Positioning of the foam sheets
Foam sizes and densities are calculated at the design
stage. Normal density range 50-200 kg/m3. All surfaces
shall be covered by a layer of foam at least 25
mm thick. |
 |
4. Applying vacuum
To achieve greater and uniform pressure the foam
sheets are pressed to the glue by vacuum.
|
 |
5. Additional foam layers
For design features and practical purposes the foam
thickness can be easily increased. |
 |
6. Shaping the foam
The foam is shaped using robots, electrical hand
planers, coarse files and sandpaper. |
 |
7. Fibre lamination
Vacuum application is used where possible.
Thickness 2-5 mm depending on area to be covered.
|
 |
8. Finishing
Fairing, sanding and painting of the reinforced
surface.
